Masaru Tanaka, MD, PhD
Tokyo Women’s Medical University Medical Center East,  Japan
In the field of the Cosmetic Dermatology, there are plenty of opportunities to treat pigmented lesions on the face. Therefore, the correct diagnosis and choice of treatment are most important. When your patient say “Please take this mole” or “I want to clean this mole since increased”, is that mole really melanocytic nevus? No guarantee. Even if the lesion has been present for more than ten years, it might be BCC or melanoma. The smaller the lesion is, it cannot be diagnosed clinically on naked eyes and we must know that dermoscopy also has its limit. If you get lost in the diagnosis even a little, making a careful selection such as excision or asking a second opinion is essential.
In order to make a correct diagnosis on the mole, it is needed to know the variations of melanocytic nevus and to have knowledge on the simulating lesions. There are less possibilities of cancer before the age of 20, however it may be BCC after 20 or seborrheic keratosis after 40. The lesions that you thought it was a stain might be melanoma.
It would be most important to get familiar with dermoscopy findings in order to diagnose a small BCC or an early melanoma. If you are accustomed to dermoscopy features on daily practice, it would be possible to feel uncomfortable when you saw the malignancy.

In Italy he has been among the first investigators studying oxidative stress from the clinical point of view and developed two lines of products: the ARD (anti-radical-damage) anf MF (physiological modulators). Both line of products are formulated to treat the specific oxidative stress damage in different diseases (CVD, CNS, skin, GI, Metabolic Syndrome, hypercholesterolemia, oral cavity, menopause, levothyroxine and statins side effects, anemia). Most of these products are currently used in Europe and North America.

Xiao-Jing Wang, MD/PhD
Professor, Department of Pathology
John S. Gates Chair of Cancer Stem Cell Biology Director, Head and Neck Cancer Research Program, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
Xiao-Jing Wang received her M.D. (1984) and Ph.D. (1989) from Beijing Medical University, the most prestigious medical school in China. She came to the United States for her postdoctoral training with Dr. John DiGiovanni at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 1990.  In 1992, she joined Dr. Dennis Roop’s laboratory as a Research Associate at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.  At Baylor, she quickly rose through the ranks to Assistant Professor in 1995, and tenured Associate Professor in 2000 in the Departments of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Dermatology.  In 2003, she was recruited to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) as a tenured Full Professor in departments of Otolaryngology, Dermatology and Cell & Developmental Biology, Director of Molecular Biology-Head and Neck Cancer Research Division.  In 2008, she was recruited to University of Colorado as a Director of Head&Neck Cancer Research Program. She has published over 120 research articles in major peer-reviewed journals.  She has served on several study sections of the National Institutes of Health, Scientific Program Committee for the Society of Investigative Dermatology (SID), Medical and Scientific Committee of the Dermatology Foundation. She currently serves as an advisory council member for National Institute of Arthritis, Muscle and Skin (NIAMS), which is a primary government funding agency for skin research. She won the prestigious “The William Montagna Award” of the SID in 2014, which has been presented annually since 1975 and is intended to recognize investigators who have made outstanding contributions to research in skin biology.
Dr. Wang has a long research career in studying molecular mechanisms of skin cancer, development and diseases.  She pioneered inducible and epidermal-specific transgenic and knockout mouse models - a unique resource that has benefited many investigators of SID for studying gene functions in stem cell properties, development and cancer of the skin.  Her laboratory has a critical finding that TGFb1, a protein is considered a growth inhibitor, promotes skin tumor metastasis (Wang, et al., PNAS, 1999; Weeks, et al., Cancer Res, 2001; Lu, et al., Genes & Dev, 2006).  Her laboratory has also found that the molecular mechanisms of TGFb1-induced epithelial-mesenchymal-transition and metastasis can be uncoupled (Han, et al., JCI, 2005). Her laboratory is the first to discover that increased TGFb1 causes psoriasis, a common inflammatory skin disease (Li, et al., EMBO J, 2004).  Studies from her laboratory also revealed that Smad7 overexpression inhibits signaling from TGFb, Wnt and NFkB (He, et al., EMBO J, 2003; Han, et al., Dev Cell, 2006, Hong et al., Nat Immune., 2007), which exerts therapeutic effects on inflammation and chronic wounds (Han et al., AJP, 2011; Han, et al., Nat Med, 2013).  All of the above studies provide important insights into novel therapeutic strategies for skin cancer and diseases, and the animal models developed from her laboratory provide resources to screen for these therapeutic approaches.
